Professional English CourseS

HOW

A revolutionary new method guaranteed to make learning English easy for everyone? Sorry, it simply does not exist.

Every English language user and every learner has their own unique mix of needs and requirements, strengths and weaknesses. My courses seek to identify these factors and improve and strengthen them as necessary.

From sales staff who need to make presentations and conduct negotiations, to engineers working abroad, to office based roles who must prepare written quotes, other documents and communicate by email - I can provide a learning pathway to improve these key skills. All lessons taught by myself, not an inexperienced young teacher.

Teaching materials are used from a vast range of sources, from online content, videos, podcasts, and news media, to traditional printed study materials.

Lessons are generally 60 or 90 minutes, and held on a weekly or twice-weekly basis.

Courses are held in-company, or online using videoconference solutions such as Skype and Zoom.

Speaking is in many cases the most used skill, and as such is focused upon during lessons.

Fluency, accuracy and pronunciation all combine to allow the student to communicate effectively.

Lessons aim to help students gain confidence when speaking and overcome the fear of making mistakes that so many learners experience.

Lessons which focus on writing use, wherever possible, real and relevant texts such as customer correspondence, emails, quotes, etc.

The aim is to improve the accuracy of the language used, focusing also on appropriate levels of formality and style.

Reading is an excellent way to expand your vocabulary and to develop the sense of language ‘sounding right’.

Reading material can be used from a huge range of sources, always aiming to be relevant and interesting for the student.

Listening practice may take the form of note-taking, listening for specific information, summarizing and general understanding.

Lessons use a variety of listening materials, often taken from real-life sources such as news reports, podcasts and video clips.
